Oven & Range Door Won't Close Properly in Tustin

In Tustin's Old Town area around Main Street, we regularly service oven doors on vintage GE and Whirlpool ranges that have been holding down kitchens since the 1950s and 60s. These classic units in Orange County's oldest homes often develop hinge wear and gasket deterioration simply from decades of faithful service. The original hinges weren't designed for today's heavy, insulated door panels, and the constant opening and closing eventually takes its toll. Meanwhile, over at Tustin Legacy and Tustin Ranch, we're seeing different door issues with the Samsung, LG, and Bosch ranges in newer builds — primarily latch misalignment from settlement in recently constructed homes and occasional spring failures in high-end models with soft-close mechanisms.

The transition zone between Old Town and the newer developments presents its own challenges. Those 1960s and 70s ranch homes often house replacement ovens that don't quite fit the original cutouts perfectly, leading to cabinet interference that prevents proper door closure. We've noticed this particularly in kitchen remodels where homeowners upgraded to larger capacity ranges without adjusting the surrounding cabinetry.
