Oven & Range Door Won't Close Properly in San Clemente

San Clemente's coastal location creates unique challenges for oven door mechanisms that we see regularly on our south Orange County service route. The salt air that drifts inland from the pier and along Avenida Del Mar accelerates corrosion of door hinges and latch components, particularly in older homes near North Beach and T-Street where ocean exposure is most intense. These Spanish-style homes, many dating back to the 1960s and 70s, often have their original Whirlpool and GE ranges tucked into narrow stucco-walled kitchen spaces where humidity tends to linger after cooking.

In the newer developments like Talega and Forster Ranch, we're seeing different door alignment issues with the Samsung and LG ranges popular in those neighborhoods. While these homes sit far enough inland to avoid the worst salt corrosion, the combination of San Clemente's temperature swings and the precision engineering of modern oven door systems creates its own set of problems. Door gaskets dry out and shrink in the summer heat, while the marine layer that rolls in during June gloom can cause metal components to expand and contract repeatedly.
