Dryer Won't Start in San Clemente

San Clemente's coastal location creates unique challenges for dryer operation that we see regularly on our south Orange County service route. The salt-laden marine air that drifts inland from the pier and North Beach areas accelerates corrosion in dryer components, particularly door switches and start buttons that get frequent use. In the older beach neighborhoods along Avenida Del Mar and around the coastal trail, we frequently find that door latches and switches fail prematurely due to salt exposure combined with the fine sand that works its way into homes during those strong offshore winds.

The housing mix in San Clemente also contributes to dryer startup issues. The Spanish-style homes built in the 1960s and 70s near downtown often have undersized electrical panels and aging wiring that can't consistently deliver the power modern dryers need. Meanwhile, up in the newer Talega development, we see more sophisticated Samsung and LG dryers with sensitive electronic controls that can be finicky about voltage fluctuations. The tight laundry closets common in San Clemente's stucco-walled homes also trap heat and humidity, which accelerates component wear and can cause thermal fuses to trip more frequently than in areas with better ventilation.
