Dryer Overheating in Lake Balboa

In Lake Balboa's ranch-style homes from the 1950s and 60s, dryer overheating is a surprisingly common issue we encounter on our daily Valley routes. Many of these homes still have their original ductwork running through cramped crawl spaces and attics, where lint accumulation becomes a serious problem over decades of use. The mature neighborhoods around Anthony C. Beilenson Park often feature laundry rooms tucked into converted garages or back patios, where inadequate ventilation compounds the overheating issue.

The Valley's brutal summer heat doesn't help matters. When temperatures soar above 100°F for weeks at a time, we see a spike in overheating calls from Lake Balboa residents. Their dryers are working overtime in already-hot garages and utility rooms, pushing aging Whirlpool and GE units beyond their thermal limits. The combination of external heat, restricted airflow from old ductwork, and lint buildup creates the perfect storm for cycling thermostat failures and high-limit shutoffs.
