Microwave Not Heating in Fountain Valley

These well-maintained properties often house second or third-generation microwaves — typically Whirlpool, GE, or Maytag units that have been faithfully reheating leftovers and warming coffee for decades. The magnetrons in these workhorses gradually weaken over time, especially when they're mounted above ranges in poorly ventilated kitchen alcoves common in older Fountain Valley floor plans.

The newer Samsung and LG microwaves we see in updated kitchens along Ward Street and in the townhome developments near the 405 face different challenges. These digital units are more sensitive to power fluctuations, and Fountain Valley's summer heat can stress their electronic components when kitchens warm up during afternoon cooking sessions. The mineral content in local water also affects built-in microwaves with steam functions, causing calcium deposits that can interfere with sensor accuracy and heating performance.
