Microwave Door Won't Close in Fountain Valley

In Fountain Valley's established neighborhoods along Heil Avenue and near Mile Square Park, we regularly service microwaves that are 15-20 years old — many of them original Whirlpool, GE, or Maytag units that came with these 1970s tract homes. These older microwaves develop door latch problems as their plastic components age and metal springs lose tension from decades of daily use. The wide residential streets filled with families who've stayed put for generations mean these appliances get heavy use, with doors opening and closing multiple times daily for everything from reheating leftovers to defrosting dinner.

The newer Samsung and LG microwaves we see in updated kitchens along Ward Street and in the townhome communities near the 405 aren't immune either. These units often develop door alignment issues when homeowners accidentally bump them during kitchen renovations or when mounting hardware loosens over time. In Fountain Valley's flat, suburban layout where garages often double as storage and workshop space, we've noticed that microwaves relocated to garage areas can suffer door warping from temperature fluctuations, especially during our hot summer months when garage temperatures soar.
