Error Code nE

The nE error code means your LG ThinQ-enabled washer cannot connect to your home WiFi network. The washer's built-in WiFi module failed to establish or maintain a connection to your router. This error does not prevent the washer from running cycles manually. It only affects smart features: remote start, cycle monitoring through the LG ThinQ app, and smart diagnosis. The nE1 variant indicates the WiFi module itself has a hardware fault.

Common Causes

WiFi router out of range: The washer is too far from the router, or walls, floors, and appliances between them weaken the signal below a usable threshold.

Incorrect WiFi password: The network password stored in the washer does not match the current router password. A router password change or reset causes this.

Router on 5GHz band only: LG ThinQ washers connect only on the 2.4GHz band. If your router is set to 5GHz-only or has a combined SSID that defaults to 5GHz, the washer cannot connect.

WiFi module failure (nE1): The internal WiFi module has a hardware fault. It cannot transmit or receive regardless of network conditions.

Router MAC address filtering: The router is configured to allow only specific devices by MAC address. The washer's MAC address is not on the allowed list.

DIY Troubleshooting

1

Check your WiFi signal strength at the washer: Stand next to the washer with your phone. Connect to the same WiFi network and check the signal strength in your phone's WiFi settings. If you see one bar or less, the router is too far away. Move the router closer or add a WiFi extender near the laundry room.

2

Verify the 2.4GHz band is active: Log into your router's admin page (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 in a browser). Confirm the 2.4GHz band is enabled and broadcasting. If your router uses a combined SSID for 2.4GHz and 5GHz, create a separate 2.4GHz SSID for the washer.

3

Reconnect the washer to WiFi: On the washer, press and hold the WiFi button (or the designated button for your model — check the label) for 3 seconds until the WiFi indicator blinks. Open the LG ThinQ app on your phone and follow the Add Product prompts. Select your 2.4GHz network, enter the correct password, and wait for the connection to confirm.

4

Reset the washer's network settings: If reconnection fails, unplug the washer for 30 seconds. Plug it back in. Hold the WiFi button for 10 seconds to reset the network module. Reattempt the connection process through the ThinQ app.

5

Check for MAC address filtering: In your router's admin page, look for MAC filtering or access control settings. If enabled, find the washer's MAC address (printed on the rating label on the washer or displayed in the ThinQ app under product info). Add it to the allowed list.
