Microwave Sparking Inside in Costa Mesa

Costa Mesa's mix of 1950s Westside homes and newer Mesa Verde properties creates unique microwave sparking challenges. In the compact Westside kitchens near 17th Street, we often see older Whirlpool and GE microwaves with deteriorated waveguide covers — those plastic shields that protect the magnetron. These units were built into tight spaces above ranges, where decades of cooking steam and grease have taken their toll on interior components. The paint inside these microwaves chips away, exposing metal that creates dangerous arcing.

Mesa Verde and Eastside Costa Mesa present different issues with their Samsung and LG over-the-range models.
