Microwave Not Heating in Canoga Park

Here in Canoga Park's western San Fernando Valley, we see a lot of microwave heating failures, especially during our notorious summer months when temperatures soar into the triple digits. The predominant 1950s-1970s housing stock means many residents are dealing with older electrical systems that can stress microwave components over time. Those mid-range Whirlpool, GE, and Kenmore microwaves that are so common in Canoga Park apartments and single-family homes weren't designed to handle the constant temperature fluctuations between our scorching Valley summers and surprisingly cool winter nights.

What makes this particularly frustrating for Canoga Park residents is that these microwaves often seem fine on the surface – the turntable spins, the light comes on, and you hear all the usual sounds. But when your leftovers come out stone cold after three minutes, you know something's wrong inside. The magnetron, which generates the actual microwaves that heat your food, is usually the culprit, and it's especially vulnerable to failure in our climate conditions combined with the power fluctuations common in older Valley neighborhoods.
