LG Dishwasher Not Draining

LG dishwashers are particularly susceptible to drainage issues due to their inverter-driven drain pump design and unique filtration system. Unlike traditional dishwashers, LG units use a DC inverter motor for the drain pump, which while more energy efficient, is more sensitive to clogs and debris buildup. The three-stage filtration system in LG dishwashers, while effective at trapping food particles, can create blockages when not properly maintained.

The QuadWash spray arm design in newer LG models creates more turbulent water flow, which can dislodge larger food particles that overwhelm the filtration system. Additionally, LG's ThinQ-enabled models often display error codes like OE (drain error) when sensing drainage problems, but the diagnostic system can sometimes misread pump motor resistance, leading to false positives. The positioning of the drain pump motor in LG units, typically located at the front-left of the unit, makes it more vulnerable to grease accumulation from the wash cycle.
