Kenmore Oven & Range Self-Clean Not Working

Kenmore oven self-clean failures are uniquely complex because these units are manufactured by multiple companies including Whirlpool, Frigidaire, and GE under the Kenmore brand name. The most problematic models are typically the Whirlpool-manufactured units (790 series) which use a dual-contact door lock system that frequently fails during the high-temperature self-clean cycle. These units often experience thermal stress on the door lock motor assembly due to inadequate heat shielding around the lock mechanism.

The Frigidaire-manufactured Kenmore models (417 series) have a different vulnerability - their thermal fuse assembly is positioned too close to the oven cavity, causing premature failure when the self-clean cycle reaches its 880°F operating temperature. Unlike other brands that use resettable thermal switches, most Kenmore models use one-time thermal fuses that must be replaced once blown, making this a more expensive repair than comparable issues on other brands.
