Kenmore ranges present unique challenges for burner ignition issues because they're manufactured by multiple companies including Whirlpool, Frigidaire, and LG under the Kenmore brand umbrella. This means a single model series can have completely different ignition systems depending on the manufacturing year. Whirlpool-built Kenmore ranges (typically 790 and 665 series) commonly experience igniter electrode corrosion due to their exposed placement near the burner ports, while Frigidaire-manufactured units (usually 318 series) are prone to spark module failures in their dual-ignition systems.

The most problematic design feature across Kenmore ranges is their sealed burner configuration combined with removable burner caps that easily become misaligned. When homeowners clean these ranges, the burner caps frequently get repositioned incorrectly, creating gaps that prevent proper spark-to-gas alignment. Additionally, many Kenmore models use a shared neutral wire system for multiple burners, meaning one faulty connection can affect ignition across several burners simultaneously.
