GE Oven & Range Uneven Heating

GE ovens and ranges are particularly susceptible to uneven heating due to their dual-element design and the way their bake elements are positioned. Unlike some competitors, GE uses a lower bake element that extends across most of the oven floor, but the element often develops hot spots or cold sections as it ages. The company's True Temp system, found in many newer models, relies heavily on a single temperature sensor that can drift out of calibration, causing the oven to maintain incorrect temperatures in different zones.

GE's convection models face additional challenges with their rear-mounted convection fans, which are prone to motor bearing failure after 7-10 years of use. When these fans slow down or develop wobble, they create uneven air circulation that results in hot and cold spots throughout the oven cavity. The brand's door gasket design also tends to compress unevenly over time, particularly at the bottom corners, allowing heat to escape and creating temperature variations that affect cooking performance.
