Frigidaire Dishwasher Making Loud Noises

Frigidaire dishwashers are particularly susceptible to noise issues due to their wash pump motor design and the plastic housing used in many Gallery and Professional series models. Unlike brands that use all-metal pump assemblies, Frigidaire's cost-effective plastic components can develop stress cracks around the pump housing, leading to cavitation and grinding sounds. The brand's signature OrbitClean wash system, while effective for cleaning, places additional stress on the pump bearings, causing them to wear prematurely in models manufactured between 2018-2022.

Frigidaire's chopper blade assembly is another common noise culprit, especially in their built-in models. The stainless steel chopper can become loose on its mounting shaft, creating a distinctive metal-on-metal grinding sound during the wash cycle. This issue is compounded by Frigidaire's relatively thin sump housing, which amplifies operational noise more than competitors' thicker designs. Models with the company's DishSense dry system are also prone to fan motor bearing failure, creating a high-pitched whining sound during the heated dry cycle.
